We are looking back on the trade fair year of 2018 – these were the most beautiful events and stands at our Einstieg and Berufe Live fairs:
Aldi Süd was part of the Occupation Challenge at the Einstieg Cologne. At the Aldi stand students could use a cash drawer to practice counting and adding money. This was intended to break down any fears about working with money. Many students believe that their math skills are not adequate to work in retail.
As part of the recruitment drive, companies can register for the Interactive Berufe Challenge to bring groups of students to their stands and participate in activities. This is how it works: interested trade fair visitors can register for a professional tour. Students are then taken to the participating stands by trade fair guides. There is something to discover at every stand – exciting exhibits, for example, or playful activities. Choosing a career becomes an experience for the students and exhibitors are happy to have visitors directed to them. Participation in the Berufe Challenge is subject to a fee.
Cologne Business School
The Cologne Business School (CBS) relies above all on a positive, relaxed atmosphere for its recruiting at the fair. CBS’ stand is comfortably furnished with a picture frame, a sofa and a television, and invites visitors to stay. Students can enjoy a delicious coffee while informing themselves about the study courses.
Cologne Fire Brigade
We were particularly impressed by the spectacular abseil performances of the high-angle rescuers which attracted new talent to the fire brigade stand at the Einstieg Cologne. Daring onlookers could test out for themselves what it feels like to be so far up. Another exciting opportunity for young people to get involved and test their nerves was the respiratory protection parcours. Another exciting action for interested young people with strong nerves was the respiratory protection obstacle course. The aim here was to overcome obstacles in a narrow, dark tunnel. Others still eager to get involved could explore inside an ambulance and attempt to escape it by using hydraulic pliers. The job of a fireman comes with many different challenges!
The Fresenius University of Applied Sciences used a large, walking Statue of Liberty to catch the eye of students. By using this iconic symbol, the university drew attention to its location in New York. The young fair visitors could have their pictures taken with the statue and posted on Instagram. It also showed the successful leap from real life communication to digital.
Germany’s animal foods and accessories company Fressnapf promoted its vocational training using animal actors. The four-pawed celebrities were all film dogs and showed their skills at the trade fair stand. Visitors to the fair had tremendous fun with them. Naturally, trainers were always present to make sure that the animals were doing well.
